Lemonade as it Relates to Success in Your life, Business or Relationships

Filed under: Personal Development,Self Empowerment — Tags: , , , — Shirland Carrington @ 8:46 am

When life gives you lemons, you have a couple of different options either make lemonade or suck on lemons.  If you suck on lemons, then you might definitely take care of some old  world illnesses.  The better option  is to make lemonade in where you convert the lemons with a little sugar and water. This is a short lived solution but it is a sweet use of the lemon.  One other option is to plant the seeds to help grow more lemon trees, thereby ensuring that others will be able to use the lemons in the future.    This act of using what you have is similar to not accepting status quo, but having a desire to do better in your life.  You might be dealt a certain hand in life, but you don’t have to keep playing it.  It is one thing to want to put your life in a better position, but consistent actions are required to implement your desires.

You may relate this transformation of the lemons to your life.  The definition  of insanity  is continuing to do the same thing and expect different  results.  If you continue to accept life and complain about  making changes, yet never doing anything, then your life will continue to be the same.  The more you set goals and dream big the better your lemonade will taste once you gather the ingredients to make it.  The right amount of sugar and lemons is dependent on how much you put in.  Consistent effort is needed on a daily basis to help you achieve your goals.

The policy of only giving a new business opportunity a “try” will never work. The “try” normally last less than 30 days and most people quit and move on to the next “shiny object”.  It is much better to select a business that you like and feel good about. Once you have a business, then the next step is to write your goals, commit to them and go after them using consistent and deliberate effort.  The feeling of accomplishment is indescribable when you achieve the goals that you set for yourself.

Some people want to be a billionaire, millionaire, live with no money worries or just be the best teacher that they could become.  Success is not always about the amount of money that we want in our bank account.  Achieving success might be a professional, personal or even being the best dad that you can be.  The definition of success is different from person to person which is synonmous with the level of tartness in your lemonade. The perfect tasting lemonade is different for each individual person.  Your lemonade might be sweeter, than mine.  It does not mean that your taste preference is better or worse than mine.  The level of success(taste preference)  varies from person to person.  The key is to take what life give you and make it better for you.  I hate the taste of just sucking on lemons for the rest of my life, so transform your lemons.

P.S.  You have put off your goals and dreams for far to long.  Don’t let procrastination the deadly enemy of success keep you from achieving them any longer.  I wrote a blog post regarding procrastination a while back read about it here.

Think Success, Don’t Think Failure Golden Nuggets from The Magic of Thinking Big

I am currently reading The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz.  This book is no different than all the motivational books that I have read. I am always getting Golden Nuggets from these books.  Think success and don’t think failure is the one that stick out to me in the first few pages of this book.  It is amazing that when think we will excel in something we do.  It is also equally amazing that when we think we will fail, we do.  The story of the little engine who thought he could and did.  The little engine did not have negative thoughts as it tried to go up the hill.  When you look at your life think of possible accomplishments that you sabotaged within the first minute of utterance from your mouth.

When you are faced with a challenge you automatically formulate in our mind whether you will succeed or not.  When your boss at work say to you I want you to run your Division next week in a split second your mind accept or reject that you will or will not be a success. When we continuously have a self defeating and lack of confidence in ourselves,  we should not be surprise about the outcome.  The sad part is that soon failure becomes our mantra and everyday life.  It is better to have an “I can” attitude over an “I can’t” attitude any day of the week.  When you mind is not right and is filled with weed there is no way you will get the healthy soil of positive thoughts to grow there.  The weeds will overtake the positive thoughts every time.   When you think failure guess what kind of results occur on a regular basis.  “Let the master thought of I will succeed dominate your thinking process.” and you will win every time.

Zig Ziglar in “See You at The Top” calls it “stinking thinking” and they is no doubt what he is trying to get across to the reader.  Zig Ziglar believed “you cannot consistently perform in a manner that is inconsistent with the way you see yourself“.You might think that thinking positive might not give you the ability to be Micheal Jordan one on one in Basketball, but at least thinking positively you would definitely score more points against him.  A journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step so starting today start using positive words such as “I can”,  “I will”, “I can do it” and “I am equal to the best”.

Gold Nuggets From See You at The Top by Zig Ziglar

Filed under: Leadership,Personal Development,Self Empowerment — Tags: , , , — Shirland Carrington @ 8:18 am

The gold nuggets from the classic “see You at The Top” by Zig Ziglar are never ending and plentiful.  The gold nuggets that I am going to discuss today is “the price of success is much lower than the price of failure”.  This quote is a reminder of a blog post I wrote a few years back.  Read my blog post  it dealt with the pain of failure or the pain of regret.  Zig Ziglar say the same thing in a different way.  It all stem from the mindset of the person in charge of his or her destiny.  I don’t remember where I heard it but I remember a story of a wise man who was given a choice by an evil man.

The evil man had a bird in his hands that was hidden.  The wise man could not tell if the bird was alive or dead.  He asked the wise man if the bird was alive or dead. The wise man knew that if he stated that the bird was alive.  The evil man would have broken the bird’s neck.  He also knew that if he said the bird was dead, then the evil man would have open his head and let the bird fly away.  The wise man thought about for a few and told the evil man the fate of the bird is up to you.

Zig  concluded the meaning of this parable in a similar fashion “in your hands you hold the seeds of failure or the potential for greatness”.  The decision to be a failure or success is up to you and you alone.  If you point your finger at the person you feel is responsible for your failure.  It is only natural that 3 fingers point squarely at yourself.  Zig Ziglar’ statement is powerful in it own right even though it is simple stated.  The price of success does cost less than the price of failure.  When you fail you tend to live that failure over and over again.  It is if a 2000 pound elephant is weighing you down in a kiddie pool that is your life.
