Use These 6 Effective Confidence Building Strategies in Your Home Based Business

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

There are 6 confidence building concepts that are simplistic in nature.  These concepts will give you outstanding results in your home based business.  A lack of confidence can make even the strongest person weak.  Samson’s strength was in the length of his hair, therefore giving him the confidence to lift any object placed before him.  When his hair was cut off, his amazing strength was gone.  He lost his strength even though he had the same physical body structure.  When you look back at this story was the strength in his hair or his mind.  ”The Power of Focus” by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Les Hewitt discusses 6 confidence building strategies to implement in your life and business.

These 6 strategies are listed below:

#1:  Focus on your past accomplishments and not your failures. If Samson looked at the things that he lifted in the past, then he would never have had a problem lifting the same items the same day his hair was cut.  You could coach yourself the same way you would if your had a friend with a challenge.

#2: Our personality is formed due to the books that we read and the people who we meet.  You must read inspirational stories in the form of biographies and autobiographies.  You may always find comfort in knowing that you are not the only one that faces challenges.  You will always have ups and downs in your life so accept that fact.  A life without challenges is a life that is not worth living.  The right mindset will allow to win challenges more than you lose.

#3: Gratitude is something that is very difficult to have when the chips are down.  You must be thankful because no matters how badly off you are there is always someone in a worse predicament than you.  If you don’t believe that then go and volunteer in a hospital.  Your issues will pale in comparison to the ill fortune of other people you meet in your life.

#4:  A masterminding group of mentors, friend and family will be instrumental in regaining your confidence.  The people who know you will be able to remind you of the accomplishments that you have achieved in the past.  It is not bragging if someone other than you is giving the praises.  This will even further emphasizes the people who you remain in your inner circle and the ones that you should let go.

#5:  The best way to get back on track is to get things done.  You should start by first setting some short term goals and finishing them.  The one thing that will defeat you is self talk, don’t beat yourself up if everything does not go as planned.  You must continuously focus on the overall picture of success in your home based business opportunity.

#6:  We must celebrate our accomplishment every week to add continuity to gaining our confidence back.  When you accomplish a goal on your goal sheet instead of crossing it off highlight it.

If after going through these 6 steps and your confidence is not fully restored, then go back to step #1 and start all over again.  Life is made of cycles so when you are in the valley you must do whatever it takes to get to the mountains.  When you are working your home based business you will face similar circumstances.  You must have an attitude of a continuous and never ending desire to be successful.

Which One do You Prefer to Live With Regret or Discipline?

Friday, July 10th, 2009

“The fear of failure is a very powerful thing, but regret is even stronger. We must not give into this fear because our whole life will be filled with regret.” this is a quote from the Discovery series in Life Path Unlimited. Fear of the unknown is an irrational fear that is paralyzing too many people.

This fear could simply be something such as making that first phone call to follow a program that will make your life better. This fear is so crippling that the phone may feel like it is over 200 pounds, therefore you fail before you start. The fact remains that no matter how much other busy work you find instead of picking up the phone to call you will eventually regret your inaction.

Procrastination is a direct result of irrational fear, the ringing of the phone might make you pray to the phone god, hoping nobody answers. The conversations that you have might be so strained that you can’t wait to get off the phone. The beautiful thing about these fears is that the more you pick up the phone, dial the numbers and talk to your prospects the easier it gets.

Habits are a behavior that you keep repeating whether good or bad. If you continue to refuse to pick up the phone then it will become a very bad habit. This bad habit will lead you to closing the door on an opportunity that might be the one thing to make you financially sound.

“Successful people have successful habits and unsuccessful people don’t”, so overcome those fears that inhibits your growth as an individual.  You must not allow the fair of failure phobia to set in; otherwise you will be in dire straits. We will succeed from consistent and persistent actions that are taken on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis. If you don’t perform these actions, then you life will be filled with regret, because “failure offer no alibis’.

11 Crucial Attributes of Leadership That Are Necessary to Succeed in Business

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Leadership is defining as a person or thing that provides direction and guidance to others that follows. The dictionary is static so that definition is boring. People are more dynamic therefore the definition of leadership means different things to different people. I will be writing about leadership as defined by Napoleon Hill in “Think and Grow Rich” over the next 10 Articles.

The  are 11 leadership attributes are listed below:

1. Unwavering Courage
2. Self-Control
3. A keen sense of justice
4. Definiteness of decision
5. Definiteness of plans
6. The habit of doing more than paid for
7. A pleasing personality
8. Sympathy and understanding
9. Mastery of detail
10. Willingness to assume full responsibility
11. Cooperation

When we were growing up people always commented that it was okay to be confident, but not cocky. The person who is strutting around like a peacock was not respected. The person who had a sense of reliance or certainty without throwing up on you with it garnered respect. The unwavering courage of a leader is more self evident in the time of crisis. Henry Ford had a reputation of being obstinate, yet without this characteristic the Model T would never have been developed. Henry Ford believes in making decisions quickly, but was slow to change them. He commanded his team to continue to develop his V-8 engine, even though year after year they failed.

He had an unwavering courage in the midst of countless failures, so finally his vision was accomplished. If you were in charge of making those decisions how would you react? The most successful people make decisions quickly, but are slow to change them. The unsuccessful people make decision slowly and change them quickly. If he had stopped the gold might have been within three feet and he would never have known it. Henry Ford was a well respected individual in his time and still respected to this day. I will be discussing the other 10 attributes in upcoming posts on this blog.

Mastering Details is a Major Part of Business Success

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Mastery of Detail is an excellent leadership attribute to have in developing a successful business. There are 5 fundamental principles that are essential to mastering the nuances of the detail. We must become skilled practitioners of the system that we use in our everyday business to get to the next level and beyond. I will use going through the process of focusing on your core business clients as a way to demonstrate the processes of becoming a true mastery of details.

They are 5 guiding principles in mastering the details in your business as listed below:

1. Initial Impact

You normally have a core segment of our clients that like clockwork always orders our products or use your service on a consistent basis. We sometimes take these clients for granted and instead focus on “new” business. We have these clients in our hip pocket so we “ignore” them.  When we ignore people sometimes our competitor come along and listens to this segment and you lose them as clients. If you had a system in place to counteract this minor detail, then loss of revenue would not have occurred.

We tend to spend our time on “new” business who tends to be people that are expensive to acquire whether they are asking numerous insignificant questions or taking up your time. They either order little or no business which makes acquiring new business a very risky investment. What kind of impact could we have if we changed our focus and invested in ways to pay attention to our core business?

2. Repetition

The key to running a marathon is the first step, so we must develop ways to keep our core clients happy.  Once we institute these methods we must make a conscious effort to use them on a regular basis. You should continue to chase new business, but you should only indulge in win-win relationship.  Repetition is the motherhood of learning so the more you repeat this practice the better chance it will become a standard practice in your business. When everyone in your organization is focuses on the simple detail of not ignoring your special clients.

3. Utilization

If you don’t use new ideas or concepts, then they will just die on the vine.  The old adage of use or lose is truly adaptable here.  The benefits of focusing on your core business will lead to referrals and increased revenues.  The main work is in the execution of the details but the benefits are unlimited.

4. Integration

We must repeat this process again and again and again until it is embedded in your business’s system.  When focusing actively on a certain detail, then it is integrating into the normal day to day operation of your business.  Once true integration occurs then we just have to follow up to make sure that integration is here to stay.

5. Reinforcement

The benefits of mastering this detail are in the follow up.  When you master one detail you must always make sure that your people continue to focus on this detail on a daily basis.  We inspect what we expect so if we don’t continually apply attention, energy and focus to reinforce this detail then it will just become ineffective

I use this example of tapping into an ignore resources in our business to show that to truly master detail is a commitment that you must make on a conscious level.  If you are able to identify the different areas of your business with this same focus there is no doubt that you will be successful in your business.  You must give attention, energy and focus to all the little details in your life and business to make the necessary changes.  Successful leader will use these 5 fundamental principles to become a true mastery of detail to take his or her business to the next level.

Personal Development and Self-Empowerment

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Personal Development is a recession proof business.  Revenues are growing exponentially every year. When you can help people eliminate limiting beliefs and overcoming fears which are stopping them from succeeding you know you are in the right business. This is definitely an industry of never ending possibilities and not a passing fad.

Many people are being downsized, right sized, and terminated so finding a legitimate business that works is very important.  Personal Development is an outstanding business opportunity to invest and use as a vehicle to reach your true potential.  The product of improvement yourself is life changing and transformational. The current economy makes this recession proof industry an excellent fit for the average person.

The revenues of  personal development are currently $12 billion Worldwide and continue to grow substantially every year. Personal Development is a perfect vehicle with a compensation plan that will help you achieve financial security.  When you work from home and set your own schedule it will allow you the time for your family and friends. I worked in the Retail and Restaurant Industries for many years and working twelve to fourteen hour days was the norm so family time was out.  The training and knowledge gained are outstanding reasons to become a product of the product.

It is very difficult to market a product which you yourself have not used.  If your potential business partners are asking you how personal development have impacted your life and all you give is canned, insincere responses, then they will see right through your farce and will not trust you.  The more you grow internal the better you will be of service to your potential business partners.  The success that you have in life grows in proportion to your inner growth. When you work on the inside it naturally comes to light on the outside.  If you are mentally the same person you were decades earlier than you will be stagnant in your business and personal life.  The more knowledge about yourself that you learn the more money you will earn.

Personal Development will be around for a very long time because of the time freedom, financial security and the level of fulfillment that you receive.  It has products that will stand the test of time.  Training and masterminding with true leader makes it a very viable opportunity to invest in. The more successful a person is or wants to become the more likely he or she will spend time and money on self improvement.
